My wife and I came out for a weekend getaway. This is our second time to stay here. SoT is located several miles (10 minutes) out of the main Brownwood area. It is fairly close to a primitive park that offers a paddling (kayaking) trail. The biggest downside (or upside depending on perspective) is cell coverage. At this time, the owners, Don and Deb, are slowing down and have gradually reduced the number of accommodations from seven to three. They are quite open and friendly. The rooms are secluded from each other, and we had our own private hot tub. They are quite spacious and more like efficiencies than hotel rooms. Our room showed off the Don's blacksmithing handiwork. We saw the owners at check-in, and when they would deliver breakfast; we never saw the other guests. There is a walking trail around the property. Stopping points along the trail clearly show how much thought and creativity were put into setting it up. Between the privacy, the tasty breakfasts and the break from everyday life, we would definitely come back again.

Our stay at the Star of Texas was beyond superb. The breakfasts brought to our cabin were excellent in taste and portioning. We had an elopement package and the ceremony was beautiful. We plan on coming back for more relaxing stays in the near future.

The breakfast is spectacular, the cabins are quiet and peaceful and secluded, and there are many amenities. get a massage, Tasyoga, hike along there whimsical trail, enjoy your own private hot tub or fire pit, swing in a hammock.... just a wonderful place overall. The individual cabins are extremely clean and the beds are very comfortable. are super friendly and the breakfast they bring is perfect every time.

This is the perfect place for a romantic getaway for the weekend, my husband and I stayed here last year to celebrate our anniversary and if seclusion and couple time is what you're looking for this is the place! We ordered a snack/wine tray and they had a local wine from Brennan Vineyards which was a nice touch! Loved taking a walk on the trail and enjoying the scenery, the breakfast is top notch and the owners were lovely people. Would absolutely stay again.

This was our first time ever staying at a Bed and Breakfast! Everything was done with excellence! We were greeted right when we got there by Don. He showed us around and the site was gorgeous. I also purchased the romance package since it was our anniversary weekend! Everything was exceptional. Deb's food was presented well and tasted fantastic!! We had everything we need and the hospitality was very nice and accommodating. We will use this as our spot from now on.
